About Me

Hi! My name is Cassie Rosner, and I am a senior at Brooklyn Technical High School, a STEM-focused high school in New York City. Since sophomore year, I've been on a biological sciences-focused academic track, which has given me a strong foundation in understanding living systems, from the molecular level all the way up to entire ecosystems.

My love for the outdoors goes back much further than high school. Some of my earliest and happiest memories are of being outside, whether that was exploring the mountains upstate or biking around with my family. There was always something about being surrounded by nature that brought me a sense of calm I didn’t feel doing anything else. That feeling has stuck with me ever since, and it's a big part of why I've never lost interest in the natural world. What started as a love for simply being outside slowly grew into a curiosity about how everything out there actually works.

I believe that growing up in New York City has given me a very unique perspective. Most people picture environmental science happening in forests, oceans, or far-off wilderness. While these topics are meaningful to me, I also like to explore the nature that exists in bustling cities. I frequently look into urban ecology topics and think about how nature manages to persist in the middle of a city built for millions of people.

I started this blog as a place to think aloud and share these interests. Here, you'll find my thoughts on environmental science, ecology, and connections between the earth and how humans interact with it.
